Introduction to Financial analysis

What is covered?

The principles of financial analysis.  We review the financial statements of real businesses, highlighting why certain numbers are important, and analysing trends.  Later, we consider the notes to the accounts and what they are telling us, and how we can use ratios to explain what is happening within a business.  We also look briefly at stock market ratios, like the PE ratio, and discuss how the market might be viewing the accounts.  This course is practical, with participants undertaking analyses of real companies.

Who will benefit?

Anyone with a very basic understanding of accounting who feels ready to explore what we can learn from published accounts in a bit more detail.
